Open House: The Real Wax workshop with Moridja Kitenge Banza
Open House: The Real Wax workshop with Moridja Kitenge Banza
Bits and pieces of assorted Dutch wax fabric covered the tables in the Education Room at DHC/ART a couple of weeks ago in a colourful array of creative potential.
Over 30 people came to participate in our Open House event, where they had the opportunity to combine these pieces of fabric with paint to create their own hybrid painting/collage. The artist who designed this workshop in collaboration with DHC/ART Education, Moridja Kitenge Banza, lead the event which lasted throughout the afternoon.
People of all ages participated by either making their own individual work or collaborating with others, in an atmosphere that was laid back, convivial and focused at the same time. Some took the route of abstraction, while others created more figurative work.
The process was inspiring. The results were mesmerizing. It was a great day!
For those of you who missed the open house, you have one last chance to create a work of art with DHC/ART Education. Moridja Kitenge Banza will be on-site from 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Sunday September 20 leading a drop-in collective art project. Each participant contributing to this large-scale work on paper will leave with a piece to call their own!
